The restroom area was also having a beautiful restaurant in which both Ala-carte and buffet lunch was arranged. All the tourists got down. We too had a buffet salad mix lunch after which we relished Lipton brand tea. The outside area of the restaurant was full of flowers and beautiful scenes. It had a beautiful scenic view.
After the lunch we again departed for Geneva.
The first halt in Geneva was at United Nations HQ where we saw
the United Nations HQ from outside. Geneva is a global city, a financial centre, and a worldwide centre for diplomacy due to the presence of numerous international organizations, including the headquarters of many agencies of the United Nations and the Red Cross. Geneva is the second-most populous city in Switzerland (after Zürich) and the most populous city of Romandy, the French-speaking part of Switzerland. Geneva is located at 46°12' North, 6°09' East, at the south-western end of Lake Geneva, where the Rhône flows out. It is surrounded by three mountain chains, each belonging to the Jura: the Jura main range lies north-westward, the Vuache southward, and the Salève south-eastward.
In front of United Nations is placed the Gigantic Broken Chair. Broken Chair is the work of sculptor Daniel Berset. It was made in 1997 for the NGO Handicap International. Made out of 5.5 tonnes of wood and standing at a height of 12 metres, this impressive work of art has been dominating the Place des Nations since 1997.
Its message is simple: remember the victims of landmines, urge your government to promote a ban on landmines. Think of making a stopover here before heading further to visit the international district.
Next Stopover in Geneva was at Lake Geneva. Here are the Glimpses at Lake Geneva.....
Geneva’s English Garden has the world’s largest Flower Clock. Its face is five metres in diameter, and consists of 6,500 live flowers that grow and bloom at different times, making the clock periodically change in colour.Geneva is recognized all around the world for it's watch making tradition, being the mother of high-end watchmaking. To pay tribute to this honor, Geneva created the biggest clock in the world, made from flowers.
Geneva Flower Clock, named L'horloge fleurie in French, created in 1955, soon became world famous, one of the main attraction of the city.
Thereafter since it was getting dark we went to an Indian Hotel to enjoy Indian Delicacy in the dinner. After the dinner we stayed in a Hotel for the night stay from where we had to proceed to Mount Titlis and Engleberg next morning..
In our next blog we shall discuss the visit to Mount Titlis, Engelberg, Lake lucern and visit to Jongfrauch... Till then enjoy ..
